KNOWN SPRINKLE COOKIES
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup Butter, soft
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups of white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of Vanilla
- 2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of Cream Tartar
- 1 teaspoon of Baking soda
- 5 ounces of nonpareil
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter, butter, and sugar, until light and smooth.
- Add vanilla.
- Beat the eggs, one by one, stopping to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl between the eggs.
- In a small bowl, mix flour, cream tartar and baking soda.
- Add this mixture to the butter mixture and puree until mixed. Excessive mixing makes cakes difficult.
- Place nonpareil in a bowl.
- Form a cookie into balls and slightly flatten the balls to a small disk.
- Roll the disk mixture in nonpareil and lightly press both sides to nonpareil.
- Place it in a pan about 3 inches apart.
- Bake cookies at 400 degrees F for 8 to 12 minutes or until the cookie has expanded slightly and does not look wet. You should be able to see some cookie dough between nonpareil.
- Remove from oven.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking pan for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Remove cookies from the baking sheet and place them on the cooling rack.
- Let the cookie cool completely before stacking or placing it in the container. The remaining heat can cause vapors and colors from nonpareils to stain other cookies.
NOTE
- Caution - Can stain your tongue, lips and fingers.
- Cream of Tartar is optional if you don't like Tartness. Cookies won't be this soft
