Bake cupcakes. Prepare chocolate cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cupcakes in white cupcake liners.
Step 2
Tint icing. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe instructions. Combine Moss Green and Lemon Yellow icing colors to get medium green color shown. Combine Royal Blue and Juniper Green icing colors to get dark blue color shown. Combine Juniper Green and Royal Blue icing colors to get light green color shown. Combine Rose and touch of Sky Blue icing colors to get medium magenta color shown. Tint ½ cup icing each medium green, dark blue, light green and medium magenta using color combinations provided. Reserve remaining icing white.
Step 3
Decorate cupcakes. Prepare decorating bags separately with tips 199, 18, 2 and 8.
Fill tip 199 bag with medium green icing. Using cactus technique, pipe cacti. Fill tip 18 bag with medium magenta icing. Using star technique, pipe flowers on cacti. Fill tip 2 decorating bag with white icing. Pipe pull-out dots on cacti.
Prepare decorating bag with tip 8. Using spatula, stripe half of bag with light green icing. Fill remaining side with dark blue icing. Using succulent technique, pipe leafy succulents, starting at outside and working towards center.
