Caramel Apple Bars



Ingredients

  • 30 unwrapped Vanilla Caramel Creams® pieces
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium golden delicious apples, cored, skinned and sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Grease and line an 8"x8" baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Melt 1 stick of butter in a medium pan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar until dissolved. When the mixture has cooled to room temperature, mix in vanilla and egg. Gradually mix in dry ingredients. Stir in apples. Pour batter into pan. Bake 25-30 minutes.
  • For the caramel topping, warm butter and milk over low heat and add Caramel Creams®. Stir constantly. When the caramel sauce is smooth, cool it to room temperature and pour the sauce over the bars.
  • Let sit for 10-20 minutes before cutting into squares.
