Waffle sauce




Material


  • 1/4 versatile cup *
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (or 1/2 vanilla bean, scraped)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg powder (freshly ground or store-bought)


Instructions


  • In a small pan, stir in the flour and sugar. Add milk and set the stove over medium heat. Shake finely and continue to stir or shake frequently when cooking.

  • Continue cooking until the sauce begins to bubble and thicken. Remove the pan from the heat, add butter and vanilla, mix well. Pour the sauce over hot waffles and grate or sprinkle nutmeg on top. Enjoy!


Note
* Gluten-free alternatives: 1/4 cup of red rice flour can be substituted for all-purpose flour in this recipe.
